Free Murat Kurnaz

Muratkurnaz240 Murat Kurnaz is the young man from Bremen who has been held at the US prison facility in Guantanamo Bay since 2002.  No link to any terrorists has ever been established. You can read the details on the case by Amnesty International in English here and in German here. Today, finally a ray of hope, as N24 reports that Murat's case will be heard this week by an appeals court in Washington.

The FBI has reported on numerous instances of abuse of the detainees held in the Guantanamo facility.  I urge readers to call or e-mail your congressional representatives (German readers should contact the closest consulate office - or call George W. Bush's wealthy pal - Ambassador William R. TImken in Berlin Tel: (030) 8305-0) and demand the immediate release of Murat Kurnaz.
