The BBC believes most readers have only read SIX of the books on this list of the "most loved" one hundred books of all times.
I've read THIRTY-FOUR, mostly because whoever compiled the list is a Thomas Hardy fanatic - as am I.
Can you beat my score?
Actually, there are quite a few lame authors and even lamer titles on this list. And only one German "author' (Nietzsche)? Nowadays I mostly only read German authors. So what would a list of the 100 "most loved" German books look like? Can you list some?
Here are some lists I've already compiled:
The Ten Greatest German Novels
Fifty Near-Perfect Books of German Poetry
Five of Most Precocious German Writers
Here are some (much better) lists from others:
Die ZEIT-Bibliothek der 100 Bücher
SZ-Bibilothek : One Hundred Great Novels of the 20th Century
And, finally, from the most important critic of German literature:
Marcel Reich-Ranicki: Der Kanon: Die deutsche Literatur
Still looking for something to read??

I read 32 of those. Surprised "Confederacy of Dunces" made that list. Too funny! Some stuff on there, Harry Potter? What sort of list is this?
