Now who would have guessed that this ran on a publicly funded TV station..?

I wonder how this government sponsored "comedian" line of attack would change after a regime change like in Poland? :-)

The more I see of stuff like that, the more I can understand what happened a few months ago in Warsaw. The new leaders there may not be kind in their approach, but I am sure every blow they strike is well deserved.

Fortunately, the overwhelming majority of Germans still appreciates the freedom of speech.

This is what we have to look forward to in a Trump Administration:

"Trump, the celebrity billionaire, who has for months led the Republican presidential race, ignited a political furor by advocating temporarily barring Muslims from entering the country until U.S. officials “can figure out what the hell is going on" in the wake of the Dec. 2 terrorist attack in San Bernardino, Calif.

In an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” Trump argued his plan was consistent with actions taken by Roosevelt, a Democratic icon, following the Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor. Trump cited three of Roosevelt’s wartime orders targeting Japanese, German and Italian nationals.

"This is a president who was highly respected by all. He did the same thing,” Trump said of Roosevelt. “If you look at what he was doing, it was far worse. … Because we’re at war. We are now at war. We have a president that doesn’t want to say that, but we are now at war.”

"They name highways after him," Trump said of the continued high regard for Roosevelt."

I'm afraid for more and more people that speaks in his favour.

In fact the detention of Japanese and Germans during war time was exactly what came to my mind when in the wake of New Years Eve in Cologne people asked "but what could we possibly do to increase security?"

Yet there is not even any need to be so drastic. Let's just go the Australian route in dealing with the refugee crisis and all problems are solved.

David

From what I've read about Cologne, if the police had been doing their job things would not have gotten out of hand.

No need for internment camps.

Zyme

Only five words indicate a completely foolproof safety measure which keeps things from getting out of hand without impairing police resources the tiniest bit:

Papua New Guinea and Cambodia :-)

James

"if the police had been doing their job"

Sure, scapegoat the police.

David

Actually it was Germany's Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere who criticized the police for their performance.
